The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) is the central statutory agency responsible for assessing, collecting, and accounting for federally collectible taxes and revenues in Nigeria. Formally known as the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), the agency officially rebranded and transitioned to the NRS following the enactment of the Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, 2025. This structural overhaul took full effect on January 1, 2026.
